For Easter, we like many churches created a video. Our video however came with a post all about what it took to pull that video off, from pre-production to post. We'll walk you through most of the phases of production, at least the ones we remember. Please feel free to comment and ask any questions. Let's begin our little tour.
We'll start with a look at the finished piece so that you have a reference point, and so that we can show off for you.
We began pre-production about a month before our first day of filming. Even though this was a mini doc, we still scripted out everything we could. You can download a copy of our script here. We also created a mood map that helped us figure out the feel and pace of the story. It looked almost exactly like this... In fact, it was this.
We created a lot of other cool docs like shooting schedules:
We also created a detailed shot list that I can't find at the time of writing this, a crew sheet, and many other fine looking pieces of paper. Finally the first production day came. It took place at an amazing Hotel in downtown San Diego. Here is a video we made with more details on the overall shoot, and that first day of production in particular.
Finally, here is a commentary we made chatting about the production side of the final film. Enjoy, and thanks for reading and watching!
